Training – Military
HMS delivers standardized training courses, as well as innovative and highly customized training for the military that identify, resolve cabilities gaps and enhance existing capabilities.
HMS provides training needs analysis, classroom and field based training. Training is conducted by HMS subject matter experts, and support each organization’s specific mission and requirements.

- Counter-IED training-including basic IED Defeat, evidence collection, render-safe, post blast exploitation, suicide borne and vehicle borne IEDs, and equipment training.
- Specialist training- including advanced IED electronics and new technologies.
- IED Technical Awareness-Advanced courses provide awareness of the latest IED construction, tactic, techniques and procedures (TTPs) involved in their use.
- Basic and Advanced Forensics training- including scene preservation, evidence collection techniques and analysis, identifying individuals of interest, and linkage to scenes and items of interest.
- Biometric Awareness and Exploitation training- including recognition of biometric collection potential to gather data for the intelligence community.
- Clandestine Biometrics for Special Operations training- demonstrates correct methods of clandestine evidence recovery.
- Touch DNA Collection- Maximizes the ability to collect biometric data from IED incidents for criminal prosecution and intelligence gathering.
- Weapons intelligence team (WIT)- Training to support WIT objectives; Weapons Technical Intelligence (WTI) and capturing enemy’s tactic, techniques and procedures (TTPs) in the use of IEDs and intelligence gathering.
- Live Agent Training (LAT)- Scenario-based training in an actual Live Agent environment; tailored to meet client’s specific requirements. Realistic training includes; detection, sampling, render-safe improvised dispersal devices, decontamination, forensics and medical.
- Integration and Application of Open Source Intelligence Training- Open source intelligence plays a critical role in understanding today’s modern battlefield. Many of our enemies operate, communicate, and recruit on the Internet. The fusion of open source intelligence into military classified intelligence helps the battlefield commander gain a truly broad picture of the enemy in order to target them effectively. HMS open source intelligence analysts teach military intelligence analysts the benefits of open source intelligence, how to effectively search for information, the analytical tools available, how to maintain anonymity, and fusing open source intelligence with classified intelligence, among many other topics.
- Field Support Representative Training- providing advanced capabilities to install, maintain, fault-find, upgrade and/or repair a wide range of in-service electronic countermeasure equipment (ECM).

Training – Law Enforcement
Recognizing that the requirements of individual law enforcement agencies may vary, HMS offers highly customized training services including training needs analysis, classroom and field based training.
Our goal is to provide flexible training solutions that improve the skills of your team with limited operational disruption.
HMS is one of the few organizations with instructors who are former tactical officers with first-hand experience in areas of criminal and terrorist C-IED. HMS trainers have military and law enforcement backgrounds that include SWAT, C-IED, Post Blast, and narcotics investigation.

- EOD/SWAT Integration – Specifics on facilitating efficient combined tactical and C-IED operations.
- Advanced CIED – Training designed to improve the bomb technician’s skill level including techniques and procedures for risk assessment, hand entry, advanced electronics, diagnostics and manual render-safe.
- IED Technical Awareness - Advanced courses provide increased awareness of the latest IED construction, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).
- Vehicle Borne IED (VBIED) and/or Person Borne IED (PBIED) – Training in advanced awareness, threat assessment, incident management, render safe and forensic collection.
- Homemade Explosives (HME) – Provides a greater awareness and understanding of HME. This course enhances the ability of officers to identify the wide variety of chemicals and ingredients used to make HMEs.
- Know the Bomb Maker (KTBM) – Familiarizes law enforcement with the planning and execution of an IED attack from the Jihadist’s perspective. This course provides advanced training in TTP, IED design, close target recon, vulnerability assessment and attack planning.
- Touch DNA Biometrics – Maximizes the ability of all officers to collect biometric data from IED incidents for intelligence gathering and criminal prosecution.
- Post-Blast Exploitation – Advanced scene management training including components collection and interrogation on criminal and insurgent capabilities for reporting purposes.
- Forensic Awareness – Provides insight into how a bomb tech and other first responders have impact upon a crime scene; demonstrates how to mitigate forensic contamination.

Research & Analysis

The TRITON database is the largest open source IED and terrorism database of its kind in the world. This invaluable resource contains unclassified information pertaining to over 150,000 terrorist incidents since 2000, with another 2500 added each month. TRITON’s scope and level of detail are unsurpassed.
HMS researchers search a never-ended supply of open sources, uncovering information— much of which posted by terrorist groups themselves— from blogs, forums, newsletters and chat rooms. Important technical details of each event are input into TRITON for future reference and reporting.
TRITON Subscription Service
